There are disability driving instructors throughout Australia and New Zealand trained and experienced working with a range of modifications that include spinner knobs, left foot accelerators, and hand controls to operate braking and accelerating. For those starting out with hand controls, the driving instructor will work with you and the driving occupational therapist to determine the most suitable option based on minimising fatigue and improving competency and safety. For those already driving with hand controls, but looking at trialling the new systems we offer, then the driving instructors can provide a safe environment for this to take place. Always consult a driving occupational therapist when driving modifications are required or when considering alternate systems.
