Complete Guide to Driving With a Disability
Our complete guide to driving with a disability….take the stress out of getting behind the wheel and gain your independence to live life to the full!
Joysteer® is an electronic, modular driving system that allows people with significant physical impairments to drive a car on their own, safely and comfortably.
Swiss-designed and made by Bozzio AG, this modular system offers various different input devices called HMIs (human machine interfaces) that can be programmed to the specific needs of each driver, adjusting the steering, accelerating and braking.
Each driving request is transmitted using state-of-the-art ‘drive-by-wire’ technology with two separate branches that monitor each other ensuring functionality remains, even in case of a failure, guaranteeing safe driving at all the times.
Integrated active force feedback gives drivers exceptional feel for the road, and speed-dependent steering enables accurate control of your vehicle even at higher speeds, keeping you safely on track.
- Speed-dependent driving
- Steering through the wrist
- Compatible with orthotics
- Option of steering movement with integrated dynamic
force feedback functionality
- HMI with all functionalities - steer, brake, accelerate - and dynamic force feedback on steering
- Speed dependent driving
- Asymmetric design (for hand rest)
- Designed for left- and right-hand use
- 4 Way joystick to steer, brake, accelerate
- 2 Way version to steer only, or to accelerate & brake
- Tilter to accelerate and brake
- Asymmetric design (for hand rest)
- Designed for left- and right-hand use
- Operation by tilting the stick
- Not compatible with orthotics.

Originating from Switzerland’s Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bozzio AG was founded in 2005, specialising in drive-by-wire solutions for people with disabilities.
Bozzio AG develop equipment in collaboration with partners like the Swiss Paraplegic Centre, and has received the seal of approval from TÜV (Technical Inspection Association), a group of independent German and Austrian companies that test and certify products and systems for safety and quality.
